Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2025

1. Introduction

RecoveryFinders ("we," "us," or "our") operates recoveryfinders.net. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. Because our site helps people find addiction treatment resources, we take privacy especially seriously.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

RecoveryFinders is designed to be anonymous. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifying information to use our treatment finder quiz. Quiz answers (such as substance type, care level preference, or payment method) are used only within your browser session to generate search parameters β€” they are not stored on our servers.

3. Information We May Collect Automatically

Like most websites, we may automatically collect certain non-personal information when you visit, including:

  • Log data: IP address (anonymized), browser type, pages visited, time and date of visits, and referring URLs. This data is used for security and site performance analysis only.
  • Device information: Device type, operating system, and screen resolution for optimizing display.
  • Location (if you grant permission): If you choose to share your location during the treatment search, we use your approximate geographic coordinates solely to search the SAMHSA treatment database near you. We do not store or share your location data.

4. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to understand how visitors use our site and to improve your experience. We may use:

  • Google Analytics: Anonymized analytics to understand traffic patterns, page performance, and user engagement. Google's privacy policy applies to data collected through Analytics.
  • Google AdSense: We display Google advertisements. Google may use cookies to show you relevant ads based on your browsing behavior. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings.
  • Essential cookies: Necessary for the site to function correctly.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.

5. Third-Party Services

Our treatment finder queries the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) National Treatment Locator APIto retrieve facility information. When you initiate a search, your approximate location (latitude/longitude) or selected state is sent to this API. SAMHSA's privacy policy governs how they handle API requests. We do not send any personally identifying information to SAMHSA in this process.

Our site may contain links to external websites, including treatment facility websites and SAMHSA resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

6. Children's Privacy

RecoveryFinders is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any information we collect. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Since we collect minimal personal data, most requests can be addressed by clearing your browser cookies. For other requests, contact us at the email below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

10. Contact Us
